egg turning a bit grey
hi,
my star tortoise egg being incubated for about 105 days at 30c. I found it turning a bit grey recent days. It has no bad smell. I cant see the embryo move for about 1 or 2 weeks (before i can see it move). The upper part of the egg becoming hollow in past week but seems not expanding the hollow area (as told its the inner membrane pulling down) any idea ? thx! (The yellow color was caused by liquid bandage as too high humidity caused it crack in about 50 days) |

Sounds like it's nearly ready to hatch, eggs do go a bit grey a few days before they do

Agree, one of mine went a bit grey just before pipping.

sad to tell that my baby got smelly and i opened tonite. A full grown tortoise died inside with egg yolk
I think it died for a few days and should be almost pip May I know the change in temperature for a few minutes will be the cause? as i took him to check by torch for about 5 mins, the temperature drop from 31c to 21c |

No the change in temperature wouldn't do that. Hard to tell what happened, as it could have been genetic, bacteria getting in, humidity to low.
