Rach, the pellets (T-Rex anyway, can't speak for others) swell up to about 4 or 5 times the size when soaked.
Kirkie's things might be worth a go, I might get some too. I will continue with stuff they can rip int though as it helps keep the beak in shape too |

Ok folks,I'll be the bad guy here. Pacifying Rach here is not doing her or her tort any good. Sticking your head in the sand is in my opinion doing your tort a big injustice. IMO weight is the most basic and best way to know the state of a tortoises health. Get a scale hun. You don't need to weigh every day but at least once a month. This is not a jump on, just some friendly advise.

I have scales. I probably would just need a lid of a shoe box or something and I can weigh box lid, then pop Lily on.?? Once a month I know I should be able to remember to do. Can put a reminder on my phone. You arent jumping on...I have to listen and get doing it. |

Ok folks... Brace yourselves. Gonna get Lily's weight tonight. Be gentle with me.. I hope it's not overly bad but bit worried. I intend to do this each 1st of month before bedtime, as he is usually so sleepy he won't take any notice of lifting on the shoe lid and on the scales. For me that is the easiest time to do it or he just will clamber out and move. Probably to the point of it reading 20lbs wrong . As I said, I realise there is work to do and that I must make the time to just get and do it. It always became one of those things I knew I had to do, but the more I forgot the more I just put it to the back of my priorities. But please don't be too scathing, I am SO sensitive where this is concerned. I know I shouldn't be. xx
