You learnt . . .to dive? Just for . . . tortoises and . . . turtles? You're very brave, Box Girl.

They're amazing pictures, I hope there's some more soon!! Hawksbills . .. . . .. sounds like some kind of bird

Were there any times you met something unexpected and dived to the surface? And did you get anymore fantastic snaps of any other animals? Was the water cold? Sorry for all the questions, I'm very interested, now!

You cannot just come to the surface or you will get ill, however it really is Ok down there!
It can be cold in the UK but I prefer to dive in nice warm water just like a bath. You wear a special suit called a wetsuit whcih keeps you nice and warm.
I have loads more pics including sharks which I may post if allowed or relevant!

I wore a wetsuit when I was away on my holiday, really tight on your skin, isn't it! Ooh, please post some shark pictures, theres no reason why the administrators or moderators wouldn't object to that!

And may I ask, why would you get ill if you suddenly dived to the surface? I'm guessing it's something to do with the temperature? You'd suddenly get shocked with temperature change?

Hi Boxgirl - I for one would like to see some more of your turtle photos! They are fantastic creatures and although I don't think I'll take up diving to watch them I can understand totally why someone would.

They are so graceful under water, which they often are not on land!

I watched something on television a while ago about a water show and the sea turtles had been trained specially to dance to music?? Not actual dancing, just swivel their legs in time to music, it was pretty cool

If you come to the surafce too quick if you have dived to 12m or below whcih I do then you get something called DCI decompression illness as you have not allowed all the nitrogen which builds up in your body when diving to depth.
As I am now getting old I dive Nitrox which has a greater concentration of oxygen then the air and can shorten decompression time, although you must not go so deep!
Its complicated but you are taught all you need and rely on a computer on your wrist to tell you what to do!!!!
More photos on their way tomorrow.
