Some friends of ours have just left for a holiday in Borneo. They tell me that they will spend time on the Island of Sipidan. Have you been there?

Yes twice. We were lucky enough to stay on the island for 3 days the summer after we had learnt to dive.
We went back for longer 5 years ago and stayed on Mabul.
They must be divers as it is not possible to stay on the island anymore and diving is only allowed in the morning. A shame but it is to protect the turtles nesting on the beaches of Sipadan. one stays at Mabul and travels by boat each day around 30 minute boat ride.

I liked the vid of the hawksbill turtle off Belize.

Maybe Michael Ashcroft could buy all the coastline and protect it from developement. But I guess thats not his thing!

That reef, off the coast of Belize I believe is second largest Coral reef in the world after The Australian Barrier Reef. Judging by the state of shipping around Australia at the minute, it may soon be contesting to be the largest!
