Default Worlds first 14% UVB HO-T5 lamp

Hi all,

Just thought that you may like to know that later in February that we will be launching a 3rd lamp in our high output T5 range.

This lamp is the worlds only German made 14% UVB lamp.

It is to be called the 'DragonLamp'.

It uses the very latest new phosphor tech and as such is around 20% brighter than our D3+ 12% lamp and has a stunning 8k Kelvin colour that is crisp and clean. It has a CRI of over 95 so the colour rendition is similar to being 'photographic'.

As always, made in Germany and formally guaranteed to be upper index potent for 12 whole months.

This lamp projects an index of 6 at a useful 15" from lamp to carapace, so it is perfect for high light requirement species.

Available in 24w, 22", 39w, 34" and 54w, 46"

Here is a bit more info should you wish.

Hope you like it

John

This looks impressive. The 15" would be fine over my indoor set-ups and extra brightness is good. But do my tortoises need more uvb than is provided with the D3+ 12% tube? Possibly not but needs more thought.

Hi, great point,

But the point is not 'more' but rather being able to provide the index required to fulfil biological need at a required height above the animal.

This lamp means that the lamp can be placed further away from the animal to do the same thing 6 and 2 3s as they say

They extra light however I feel could be most useful in terms of enrichment of brain health for those kept inside

Jonathan / John if you can help that would be great. I am struggling to identify the exact tube length I would have to purchase for a Arcadia ACE2U5 Twin T5 Controller, 24 - 39 Watt.
I was thinking its the 39 watt with 12% or 14 UV then ?
but what length? is there one I couldn't buy because of the length (as in the fixings wouldn't stretch -to it?
I get it will be dependent on output/to length of enclosure, so say the enclosure is 5 foot by 2 foot and I may wish to place it on the 2 foot side / or the 5 foot side.
I will supplement as needed, just that a lot of my set ups are temporary too and mobile.

Thanks - good thread. And yours Jonathan on the flood light one - seems a lot easier for numpties like me ! CB

I am having a real dim day (ironic considering the 'ortoise thinking debate) sorry,

So in very simple terms the T5 twin will take a 24w at 22", 39w at 34" and 54w at 46"
So as long as I stick to these size tubes the T5 will stretch / reduce to take them. I suppose in theory I could use a 14% and 12% tube in the same T5 Twin - not that I would need to but I like to know these things ! And I can operate one of the Twins on its on and not have a bulb in place too ! And maybe don't need a reflector with the 14% UVB CB

THat controller is very clever

It will run a 24w lamp or a 39watt lamp or two 24w or two 39w or even one of each of ALL % lamps

In a system of 5' I'd use the 39w 12% lamp and fit the lamp and reflector 12" above the carapace.

The FLOOD is super easy to use with tables as we make a very nice adjustable stand for it product code AO15

Reflectors are essential or you waste two thirds of the energy produced!

thanks John. I know I am being tight on the old reflector bit...will do as all makes sense.
(I always have the combi bulbs usually which are brilliant of course but wanted a different look more than anything).
Wish I had bought the Flood straight off but never mind will persevere. CB

thanks for all your help and Jonathan has been really informative. Read the hyperlink and getting more confident will wait for the 14% I reckon. Better be crisp ! I can tell the difference on my Fish Tank so will know if not ! ..... CB
