Hello! Apologies for delay on getting back to you all.
Bowser is back home after a week at vets, leg looking much better, much more mobility in it. (I didn't notice how little he was using it. Flies around now!) Causing the swelling was a bacterial infection, discovered by a biopsy from the knee joint which found a lot less than the vet was expecting given the size of the leg. It's still swollen, and I have been given three 0.2ml shots to give myself Sunday, Weds and Sat. One thing I forgot to ask... How far do I push the needle in? |

Something I have never attempted - I can inject humans but not my tortoises.
I expect EJ or Danny can help you out here - or just phone The vet (if it's John Chitty ) he really won't mind you phoning him. Glad Browser is getting better - let us no how he gets on. |

It all depends on what antibiotic was given as to how you should inject it. What did they give you? It sounds like he is doing much better.

Not sure what it is, just know it's 0.2 ml of something.
&& it's being given in to the top right of the thigh (looking from the rear). Poor mites skin has all peeled where it's been given (at least I know where to aim ) |

Some antibiotics you only want to do just under the skin (subcutaneous) and some into a muscle (intramuscular) and some you can do either way. So it would help for you to call the vet and ask what antibiotic you got and how best to give it.

It's Fortum, and it doesn't really matter how far.
Will let you know how it goes. Have to do it around 7-8ish. ...But I am most definitely not nervous.... *starts shaking* |

Sotn general? If so I'm in the lab upstairs processing the blood you send me haha!
It's done! May have not got a full 0.2 as I over-squirted the needle as I was worried about injecting air, but he got *most* of the dose lol Just hoping he won't hate me now that I'm the bad guy |
