Thumbs up 4 Horsefields layed tonight

Gertie, our 7 year old Horsefield has just layed 4 eggs. Went mad trying to find the old stuff from when they were kids

Got them in an identicle set up to thetortoisetrust.com lady.

Currently at 30 degrees with a small tub of water in the tank for the humidity.
Need to purchase a humidity measuring thingy. Looking good at the moment though.

What about the temps at night as I suppose in the wild it does drop a little. Should we keep the constant temp through the night too...

Any advice always greatly received....Thanks guys..

Thumbs up 4 Horsefields eggs- update #1

Got the humid thing and steady at 65%. Also weighed them today and a little low at 18g.

Read that it is not really a good idea to candle them too much or wiegh them more than once as disturbing them can stress them even at this early stage, everything should become apparant.

Got them at a steady 30 deg for 24 hrs. It rose a bit to 31.5 for a short time then 28.5 but mostly around 30 give or take .5 - 1 deg. Hope thats a close enough margin...here's hoping??? I have read about the Enviromental sex determination...so am a little aware of cooler males and warmer females...30 deg should be a random selection. or 4 tranny's

It's only the end of the 31st hour, not that i am counting. Checking the temp every 2 hours (not in the night though-thats every 4 (not))

Anyway good night all. Nice talking to like minded folk... x

Update #4 ish
Two of the eggs have small what look like air bubbles in the top and seem darker inside at the bottom. It's been a week tomorrow evening so I know it's early days...
