If you have a shower set it to 30oc on mid pressure and spray it on the tortoises tail for about an hour.
My leopard didn't poo for over 2 weeks once and that's how I got her to poop. |

You probably have tried this...
Deeper water is more effective for bad cases of constipation. Here supervision is even more essential to avoid risk of drowning. A ramp made from a small wooden plank (or similar) can be used in a deeper bowl. One end of the plank is rested on the rim of the bowl and the other end rests on the bottom. This will allow you to position the tortoise at an angle, so his body and legs are completely submerged, but with his head well clear of the water. Arrange it so it is not possible for him to accidentally fall over the edge of the ramp into the water. If you don't have a ramp then just sit and hold the tortoise gently at a 30° - 45° with the warm water lapping around his body. Fifteen minutes to half an hour of this treatment will often cure a sluggish bowel. Then, it is likely that your tortoise will miraculously rediscover his appetite, and eat normally.

Oh my word what a horrible situation for the both of you.
Have you chatted with EygptionDan or Naturalis these two guys are really good and full of information. I would do another thread appealing for thier help. You never know? Keep posting though we are all rooting for you both. Just a thought? my youngster would pee & poop all over me when I use to pick them up for a cuddle. It's the stress that causes it. Play about with her tail whilst she in the bath to stimulate a bowel movement. oh God I'm clutching at straws now good luck sue |

oh God I'm clutching at straws now good luck sue[/QUOTE] Another straw: When they are pooping torts pull their head into their shells. I used to pour water from a small container over my tort head in the bath to encourage one of them to poop & I used to find this did the trick. If I just let her soak it didnt do the trick. (just reading Sue's post sparked this memory) |

With being constipated it's the fact that the poo has gotten dehydrated and that makes it very hard to move. You might want to switch to baby oil/mineral oil for the enemas. That usually lubes things up very well and will help it move. You will probably have to help get it out once it starts coming out, so a pair tongs or large tweezers will help with that. If you can get the first bit out, than the rest should follow fairly quickly.
