Default Terrible Morning!

Hi everyone, i have had a awful shock this morning. I was woken up at about half six by the loud clucking of one of my chickens. I thought that maybe the automatic door opener had stuck again, so i got up to let them out. As soon as i looked out my kitchen window i knew something was badly wrong. During the night some b******d had broken in to my garden. They had smashed the lock off my tortoise pen breaking all the lid and ripped it off the hinges. Luckerly i bring them in at night due to wandering wildlife so they where still tucked up in bed in there little house . A lot of my plant pots had been smashed up and knocked over, the veg patch has been trampled and the garden furniture thrown into the little wildlife pond . Saddest of all though is that my ex-bat hens where wondering loose and there where feathers everywhere. I can only find two of them and they both have bald patches and are very shaken up, i was hopeing that the third one would come back tonight, but she hasnt yet. I just cant see why they did this, the police think that they may have been after the tortoises so now im too scared to put them out. Sorry to rant everyone, but im feeling a bit down and very very angry!

Aww Thats terrible. Glad your torts are safe though. I see why you don't want to put the tortoises out I would be EXACTLY the same. Hopefully your other chicken/hen returns soon. I hope that someone else see's whoever done it, doing it again and the person is caught x

Thats terrible, it sounds like they were after the torts. I think I'd be keeping them in for a while if not there to supervise. Such a shame with the nice weather we're having.

Thanks everyone, Sadly still no sign of my missing lady. I have had a word with some of the allotment holders that have the plots behind my house and they are going to keep an eye out and so are the neighbours. At the moment the tortoises are only going out when i am out, i think they must think they are being punished all that lovely sun and they are stuck indoors on the torty table. My husbands best friend is coming round tomorrow he is an alarm fitter he is going to see if there is a way to wire the tortoise pen and the chicken house into the main house alarm. I am still worried though because even with an alarm they could have taken them and rang before i have got out there!

Really sorry to hear that Jazz. I just don't understand some people....makes me sick. Really hope you find your missing hen. Thanks goodness you had your torts indoors though I can understand them being out will be a worry now. Hopefully your husband's friend can rig something up. Let us know if your hen returns.

Thats terrible, I do wonder at the sometimes what makes people like this tick
Its horrible you have lost your chicken and cannot let the torts out alone.
I think its awful people cannot enjoy their pets without worrying about theft.
I do hope you find her soon and the others are soon over their trauma.
I do feel for you, its a horrible thing to happen
