The thermostat swithes it on and off to regulate the heat and keep it at the desired temperature so even if you have a large wattage it's not blasting out heat and chewing up the electric constantly

You know what Bind....I bought a clamp lamp and I am beginning to wonder what on earth wattage it can hold in the holder!!
I always thought only 60w....but looking on the internet, the one I have, can hold up to 150w....i dont get it. I am sure I read on the box that it couldnt.
