Bring the tort to see the vet...travel arrangement
Hi all, my tort has unfortunately showing symptoms of RNS, and I think I have to bring her to the vet asap. Possibly tomorrow or Saturday! Problem is: I live in Oxford, and my nearest vet is in Reading. I will be driving - what's the best way to minimize the stress of the tort? I am going to use a warm pad to provide heating so she won't get too cold....

I just put mine in a plastic or cardboard box with shredded newspaper and a lid, and if it's cold the heater on in the car
You don't want torty too active or alert but not really stone cold either I personnally wouldn't bother with a heat pad |

so is it to make her think it's dark and she should go to bed?? thus not sensing the change?

I didn't have a heat emitter when I first had a run-in with RNS, I kept my lamp on all night for the extra heat. Although some people might think this wasn't a good idea, as torts do like a day and night cycle, I had no choice for a week or so and the tort in question just burried down or went into his hide so the light on at night didn't bother him.
Oh, and as Tortbabe has said, you'll need to keep the temps up overnight for the ABs to be their most effective |
