Wow they are brilliant Alan. They are using a video camera aren't they, then freezing the pic they want. You can do that

They were using a video camera to show what happens with the drops but his photos were taken with a proper camera. Freezing the frames isn't as good a quality as the photo

Ahhhhh I see, the shutter speed on my camera is far to slow to take images moving that fast.

Possibly but the shutter speed depends on light, the more light that gets in the lens the faster the shutter speed is (unless you set it manually). Has your camera got ISO settings? If so, a higher ISO setting also lets in more light but at the same time the picture quality might suffer

here's my first attempt (well, the first one where I managed to capture anywhere near the drop hitting the water anyway )
I don't think it would be too hard to do with the right gear. It's hard to get the focus set because you have to guess it until you hit a droplet and see if it's in focus or not. this one is only partly in focus |

been having another go at this using backgrounds and coffee with no milk instead of water. The green one is a co-op bag for life background, it loooks like an alien

it's very difficult to get the focus balance right. you can have one small area in sharp focus or the whole thing in not so sharp focus. I will try the whole thing next time I have a go
