Arcadia D3 uv flood lamp
Hi all
has anyone tried this product? I'm tempted to get one and see what it's like in practice and if you have used one please let me know.

Not tried it but would be interested in what you think of it. I'm quite happy with Arcadia T5's at the moment.

I find it hard to resist a lighting gadget.
I tried the arcadia 80 watt combined lamp to see what it is like. My conclusion is that it's not much use to me but to be fair to the lamp I was expecting it to do something that it's not designed for. In a viv it might be ideal but in an open set-up the uvb, heat and light all seem feeble.

I like to keep up to date with the lighting side as well. I did see the flood by I don't have any call for it.
I wasn't expecting much from the 80w. The 100w struggles with temperatures most of the time so I couldn't see what use the 80w would be. I don't think it's any use for tortoises, maybe alright for lizards to create a boosting zone midday in a vivarium, but it can't be used on a stat so that might be risky.

Just as a tip,
The D3+ UVFLOOD has been specifically designed to be used with torts. It uses High output T5 power compacts and a very special flood type reflector. This means that it produces as much enegry as a M.V but over the whole footprint of the lamp. For instance ours is set 12" above the top of the shell of our spur thigh and he is getting an index of 7-8 over that 40-45cm square of light. Imagine a 160w M.V but with a basking area of this size and without the running costs!!!, just 24watts It really helps with the light and shade method! It is also IP67 waterproof so great for turtles also. Any questions I'm happy to help! John

Surrey pet supplies. I haven't used them for a while. They sent it by some co. I never heard of. Prefer parcel force as they have local depot I can walk to.

Looks like a good bit of kit and am very tempted to change over from the D3 160w combined bulb when it expires.
What's the average UV drop off rate of the tube and how often is it recommended to replace them? After a quick Google, I can't seem to find any suppliers selling replacement bulbs. They all appear to be for the complete kit. I presume the tube is replaceable and not one complete unit with the holder and reflector? Ta |
