Default A few questions...

I have 2 Horsfields who are way too young yet to be breeding

However, what I would like to know is what age do they have to be before they can breed?

Plus, we are not sure what sex they are yet - I think they are male and female. But another spanner in the works is that they could be siblings - so I am presuming this would be a big no no.

In the wild when they grow slowly its between 10 - 15 yrs old before they reach maturity.

If they are possibly siblings it would be best to not to breed them as deformatives can occur in hatchlings or there may be no hatchlings at all. You'd be better splitting them up once they approach sexual maturity and if you still wish to breed them (as we do at home) consider getting some more torts. If your lucky you may have 2 females already. We've had our 2 russians over 10 years, our male hasn't grown much as i suspect he was wild caught and was already an adult. Our female is around 14 years old and has been producing eggs for a few years now. Though until this year we haven't had fertile eggs.
