I just read it again and your right Andy They are going to let those animals in on the first page. Just makes no sense with the Burmese stars and the Northern Indian stars in Pakistan (which is the north edge of the range and they aren't found in many places in Pakistan). They must be smoking something good to come up with this.

Exactly why I mentioned that it would be good to get clarification from people at the UK CITES enforcement team, and the reason I have been corresponding with someone whom sits on most of the European CITES meetings.

A bit unknown to me ... but it is my understanding that this really should have little effect to private individuals, it will be more appropriate to the trade / law enforcement.

You are right of course, but a consequence of this regulation as it differs quite significantly from CITES rules interpreted from other parts of the world, is the risk of increased confiscations at our Borders.
This could certainly impact on groups such as yours whom are asked to assist in re homing confiscated stock.

Totally agree, but note , this is not a proposal , it is comes into effect as stated below

Article 3
This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union
.

and we were reading the article in said journal dated 18th august.

I know of no captive farming of geochelone elegans or the elongateds .

But i wonder if this is related to a private company in partnership with the myanmar goverment for the Burmese. Also the Aldabs from the seyschelles.

Regards Andy
