Default New year resolutions ?

Have any of you made any? And are you going to stick to them? I haven't exactly made resolutions, but I do want to be a bit more productive, and make some changes. I'm trying to cook a bit more imaginatively and healthier, although our diet here isn't particularly unhealthy. Read more, watch less TV, paint chairs, decorate........ And a few more things, oh yes be more positive, my new saying for the year, the quality of your life, depends on the quality of your thoughts.

I never start the year with resolutions but aims - read more, sew more, hug more, laugh more, etc. The whole positivity mindset is something I greatly believe in and positive thoughts do lead to a more positive day. I did a short uni course last year on mindfulness and that was so interesting.
I had a mad, crazy, hectic year last year and a reasonable amount of time was spent on researching my husband's family tree. It was worth all the hard work and I've made some lovely friends as a result who are my mother-in-laws cousins and we'll always be in touch.
I had a very stressful year with the demands of my parents too which has led to some major changes in our lives but positive ones and which will give the kids, hubby and I a better quality of life. It really was something that had to happen for the sake of my own sanity, so this year is going to be a simpler one and I intend to dedicate it solely to my family unit of six, including myself, instead of everyone else all the time.

I hope the new cooking and creativeness provide you with a happy, healthy and fulfilling year, Suze. x

My resolutions too are more like aims. My fitness regime took a downward turn a few days in when I went down with the nasty cold and cough everyone seems to have round here. A week on and still not right. Which of course means too much TV.

Anyway, had a tricky 3 years looking after everyone else and also hoping 2016 will be some time for me - and more for the torts of course!

Food is off to a better start. My aim is to plan for the week rather than putting pressure on myself to come up with something. Have to mention husband does cook too - has 2 dishes. Fish pie and Quorn Mince cottage pie. Both superb.

The to do list runs to 3 pages

Apparently a life, work ,me balance fits into 5 categories : - Social, relaxation, activity work and me time. Never the twain shall mix, but you have to work out what fits into which as you can't have social bit meaning its relaxation to have the balance right.

Mindfulness is brilliant Emma isn't it. I dumped the job and travelled round Thailand and Indonesia years ago, stayed in Bali for months and it reminds of Buddhism slightly in the practices of it. ! the nostalgia...x

I think you are all right in having aims rather than resolutions, mine are aims too. It's started well and I'm determined to keep it all going. I also like doing mindfulness , I've got some good books on the subject, I finished my first book of the year and I'm onto the next, 4 more chairs to paint, and it won't be long until we can all start doing some tortoise gardening. And I haven't been near FB for a week, long may it continue . Good luck to you all with your aims for the year.

i'm trying mindfulness now looking out the window and seeing all the leafs I hand picked up mashed to a bog spilling out of the green sacks not picked up by the council because their scheduling goes to pot over one day off a year and all the seeds I spent ages planting washed away in the hail, wind and rain.......One is smiling through gritted teeth living in the moment....CB

Hmmm...I hope you do better than my hubby. He promised me we'd be millionaires within a year back in 1993, even before the lottery started over here. I'm still waiting......
