Default Thanks button (trial)

All,

We've added a little button at the bottom right of the posting window that lets you say thanks to someone should you find their post useful. We're just trialling it since like with most things there's some people that will like it, others that will hate it.

After a month or so we'll see how the trials gone, possibly stick a poll up or similar as to whether we keep it and go from there.

Please don't abuse it - keep it useful and as a genuine way of expressing your gratitude.

I liked it for stopping people replying to posts with "thanks for that, that was useful" type posts which are pointless but warranted as it's always nice to know your post did help somebody but disappointing when you've been notified of a reply to your thread/post, and it's only somebody saying 'ta' rather than cause for more lengthy discussion.

Not sure this really adds anything much but part of me says why not have it.

I think I'll forget it's there and just type in any thanks, as I always do, which of course will defeat the object completely.
