I wasn't bad at geography at the school and I can find my car in a car park unlike my wife but when I was at school I don't think some of those countries existed
I am pretty confident of two of them, no idea about 8 of them (can't even guess) and have guessed the rest. I do know quite a lot of capitals but they are not in this quiz |

I did geography at school too.......... and passed the CSE but my memories from it are all about oxbow lakes and the formation of rock etc, I dont remember ever having any world map lessons (maybe I was away on that day)

I have A-level Geography and we definitely didn't ever cover capital cities. It was all about industry, inner cities, agriculture, landforms, natural hazards and so on.
I'm confident on about a third of the countries but that's because I have a great geography game I play with the kids that covers countries, continents and capital cities. Sadly, it doesn't cover the lesser known ones and I haven't the foggiest idea about them. These quizzes are a great learning experience...all we have to do is remember all the answers and we could get a team together for Eggheads!!

We did get capital cities at school but that was about 40 years ago and the world has changed a lot since then. The countries were the easier ones too like the UK ones and Germany, France, Rep of Ireland etc. Look at the 'new' countries that have appeared since then from Yugoslavia and Russia and name changes in African and Asian countries

Some good attempts I didn't realise it would be this hard though.

As Alan said unless you are a boring person who likes looking up capital cities(sigh) in spare time, most capitals you know are not the ones in there. Plus you've got only a few capitals from places like Africa and south america, the obscure capitals that people may know.
