Default new uv light

Ok so I have moved from an arcadia combi light to a normal bulb for basking which I have kept in my lamp holder which has a reflector and I have an arcadia t5 22 inch 24w light with reflector. Silly me didnt think I needed a controller but turns out thats quite important and is in the mail today.

My table is an open top table and the height is 7 inches which I think is too low for the light to be in contact with petey.I have been advised to tape the reflector to the wall but I wondered if anyone else had any suggestions or if you can let me know how you have your bulb on an open top table.

Also what height should I be aiming for?

He he you are my personal advisor on all tortoise related issues. Not that I dont trust you 100% just want to see what other ideas people have and get an idea on how close it should be to him. Seen a few pictures on here recently and it looks very close to the tortoise.

A reflected D3+ T5 is producing the same amount of energy all along the lamp as a 100w M.V lamp. This means that upper index basking is 12-15" off the back of the carapace. It should not be fitted any closer than 10" however as this would provide an unnaturally high index.

Thanks John. Exactly what I was looking for. Will change my location of my table I think so I can fix the new uv lamp to the wall.

I have hard as nails solution will that work? Or is it masking tape? Is it sticky back plastic style I need to do or just tape down the edges?
