It would work out a bit more expensive but for really good insulation you might consider one these kingspan products:

Intestingly Jonathan there was a user on here who insulated 2, 6 x 4 sheds (she may have been called Betty Boop?) not sure, but she did her first one in Kingspan & the second just polystyrene & I remember her saying she had found no difference in heating costs.

Yes, interesting. All I can say is that not just kingspan but other similar products have undergone a lot of testing etc in order to achieve a given standard for the building trade. Maybe for tortoise housing it isn't any better than polystyrene though.

I'm sure building control would be over the moon with polystyrene in a house build, there the people that set the standards for u values.
For what it's worth I've built a tort room (with help and advice from here) and at the moment with today's weather I loose 2 degrees overnight from lights out till the lights come back on, there is supplementary heat for the night but the temps arnt getting low enough for the boiler to kick in.

My problem is I now need another room to wind down the torts for winter as the room is too warm.

In the longer term more/better insulation will keep the heating costs down and gas/electricity ain't gonna get cheaper, your torts are gonna be there for a long time

I used 1" thick polysyterene sheets sandwiched inbetween foil bubble wrap with plywood over the top, and it works just fine, however their sheds are 4ft so smaller than the usual big sheds/greenhouses x
