Can you give a home to Sheldon?

Hi, i'm looking to find a suitable home for Sheldon, i think he is a red eared slider. I got a phone call from my local vet asking if i could find him a home, he was brought in to be pts as the owners were emigrating and couldn't find a home for him. As he is very healthy the vet didn't have the heart to pts.
He is 5" and has huge claws and a long tail so i'm guessing he is male.
Approx age of 10yrs, owners have had him for 5yrs and he was that size when they got him.
I would love to keep him but don't have the space for him, he is in a 24" tank with filter, spot bulb and uvb bulb. I do appreciate this size of tank is not great but it is a mansion compared to what he was in before (a tiny plastic storage box with only a filter).
He is very active and eating greens, pellets with calcium dusted over it.
I've had him approx 8wks now and i really need to find him a new home before i get too attached
