Need help with bulb urgently
I have 2 baby bearded dragons in a small viv, had a heat bulb in there that came with the viv and it went a couple of weeks ago...bought a new one and it went the day before yesterday...i know they should last longer...i have now put in an energy saving bulb as it is all i had, and its making a noise...what should i do, do i need a lower watt bulb? Is that what made it blow? I have no idea what to do as my ex used to do all the electrical stuff

The energy saving bulbs though are pretty low in wattage...
I would take a wild guess and presume the holder would be in the 100w range. I would maybe take steps and get a surge protector plug socket...then obviously plug your lights into that (which would plug into the main wall socket). Lots of bulbs blow...and sometimes its just rubbish luck. The noise from the energy bulb...not sure. I am no electrician. See what others say on this..but hard to call if the holder max wattage/& ceramic is unknown. Hope you get it sorted and that its nothing too problematic to solve, Jess. xx |

I would say the holder is most likely a 100w max one.
You could always buy an 80w spot bulb, they give off plenty of heat so will be ok. The energy bulb I'm not sure about, sorry. |

the bulb holder may be faulty or not making a good connection with the bulb. the spark of electricity can jump the gap meaning the bulb will light but may also damage it. you could try prising up the copper connector inside the holder if it is that type BUT SWITCH OFF AND UNPLUG FIRST.
If that doesn't work you might need a new holder |
