No, its not a state funeral, but then there have not been any other Prime Ministers that served for so long who have died (recently). Winston Churchill of course was the last PM to have a state funeral.

It sickened me to see people dancing in the streets and dancing on the newpapers that are declaring Maggie is dead. Bet most of them are to young to know or remember her.
What a woman!!! wife & mother
RIP Maggie.
Well said Sue. Some of you are too young to remember her when she was PM, the lady had balls, which more than can be said for most male politicians or PM's since or before. She was not always right, no politician is, but she stood her ground when she believed something was right , she was not afraid to fight for what she believed in, the same cant be said today, they are all too afraid of offending or upsetting someone. RESPECT. RIP Maggie.

No tone.

With World Leaders attending, together with our own Royal Family and other Heads of State, she couldn't really have a chapel service and cremation at the local crematorium.

Thatcher was a divisive force and continues to divide us today, even over her death.

I think it's true that since Thatcher politicians have been trying to find out what it is the public wants and when they get the results of the surveys etc they then say what it is that they think a majority of people want to hear.

Although I don't share Thatchers values, and to be honest I found a lot of it disgusting, she was at least a politician with real conviction.
