calcium traces in wee!
hi everyone,
was wondering if anyone could help me. when my 2 hermanns wee in there bath i find a little amount white stuff comes out (very small amouth sometime sticks to there tails) probably about 1mm squared, sometime a little comes out as they pass poo. is this normal only thing i think it could be is the calcium powder....i normally sprinkle it over the food. any help would be great mark |

Its urates, perfectly normal, nothing to worry about.
Should be softish consistency of toothpaste. If they are hard or gritty its a sign your tortoise could be dehydrated. |

Hi Mark, nothing to worry about - perfectly normal!
What you're seeing is urates, a waste product (uric acid) expelled by your tort. As long as they're creamy - a but like emulsion paint, then everything is fine. If the urates are every gritty or hard, it could mean torty is de-hydrated so steps should be taken to remedy that |
