Still very titchy
This tort I have had for 8 months now so he must be at least 9 months old, still only 37 gms and still only 5cm, I did have to worm the little guy back in February as he was full of little worms (no easy feat with the dosages with a tort this tiny I can tell you) he is now worm free I'm happy to say
He is averaging a weight gain of 1 -2 gms a months, now if someone can beat a tiny tort that is almost 9 months old at 5cms with one that is smaller at that age I would love to see pictures

Aww...a little tiddler. I'm afraid I can't compare Chester when he was that age as Chester has always been an eating machine and so didn't take long to start piling on weight.
I'm pretty sure that your little one is healthy and the slow-growth may just be normal for him/her Bev. It's nice to have a petite one. Well done on the worming! I can imagine drawing up the right dose wasn't that easy!

Thankyou, the worming dosage was tiny as you can imagine, but brilliant that he is now worm free he may just stay a tiny tortoise, he eats well and poops normal, so not concerned that he is not eating, he is a little cutie x

Awww, what a little cutie
When my little one was 9 months she was 56mm in length and weighed 34grams. It took about 4 months after I got her, for her to start eating regularly and put weight on. That was a very stressful time for me! She is now 1 year 8months and is 85mm in length and weighs 130g. And just keeps eating!

Gemma that's great news. If I remember right you had lots of worries and were running back and forward to the vets. Sounds like you have well and truly turned the corner and got your pet on the right track.

This is one of the Babes I hatched last July. She is 9 months old and weighs 28gms. Her plastron size is 4.5cm. She weighed 9gms when she was hatched and caused me a bit of a panic as she was the shape of the egg she came out of. Her shell has slowly straightened out over time and everything is in line from her nose to tail. hugs Stella x x x Last edited by Stellanne; 12-04-2015 at 05:10 PM. |

Hi, yes we are now on the right track
I think it was a number of things that needed to be adapted. The main one being she didn't like her food in a dish. So now I hide it around her tortoise table and she enjoys hunting around for it. Wow, Stella. Sounds like you have a teeny weeny one. I hope she is eating well, and you never know when she may have a growth spurt - if at all!
