Thanks for such a warm welcome, i can tell tortoise people are a lot friendlier than predatory reptile keepers on other forums lol.
I can understand and appreciate your concern about sulcatas and the space i have available, I am not in the largest house with the biggest garden at the moment, however i am soon moving and eventually due to inherit a huge house and garden. I would love to know the sulcata breeder on this forum (if its the one from essex, ive found their website and emailed them, without replyy im afraid) although i currently have 2 shops looking for one for me. The Arum lillies(zantedeschia aethiopica) i have came from seeds, not bulbs, however, if they still might be toxic, i dont see any point in risking it |

Hi
Welcome to the board I would love a sully, but my garden can't sustain leopards and sulcatas. (I wouldn't be able to have just one ) Good luck on your search

Right, after much thought, i decided that situations can change, and i may have some misfortune in the future and not be able to care for a sulcata the way it should be cared for, so i opted for something a bit smaller and bought my first leopard tortoise, Gary, from southend this morning, he certainly is a handsome beast! hes an 06 cb, very alert and active with a stunning shell(despite a little pyramiding). He just had a soak and a very long drink, hasnt eaten anything yet, but is actively exploring his cage. Ive just noticed though that his eyes are a little puffy(but bright), and he seemed to have a bit of a bubbly nose(maybe from that long drink he had) Ill be taking him to the vet this week to have him checked out, but any advice you lovely people have in the meantime would be very much appreciated. Ill post some photos when i have some
