Default Please identify Fred

Hi, my mum got Fred when she was about 13 and he died when I was around 11, so he was in our family for a long time. These photos are before I was born, so he grew to be a lot bigger than this. I'm just interested in finding out what species Fred was, because we never really had the resources to find out back in the day. The internet is a wonderful thing Suggestions please?

Here is a link to more photos of Fred if anyone is interested - http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...00002064790944

When I found these photos yesterday I thought Testudo Graeca Ibera at first, but I am by no means an expert, pure guess work.

Fab pics, but really hard to tell for sure, how old are these photos and do you know if it was a male or female?

My mum thinks the pics are late 70's, early 80's. Well we always said he was a boy, but we never had him sexed.

Looks like a Moroccan spur-thigh to me, Testudo graeca marokkensis. Fred was most likely a female.

Good call Corra
