Here you go, he is on the stump. Then a couple of the chisel and then the wound. It only takes a banana and he's anyones!

Here you go. He is on the stump. Then a couple of the 'chisel' then with wound. But it is healing well now.

You can probably trim it back this far without a problem...
You would go to the upper edge of the white line. If you see and bone or blood... stop... wait for it to heal... repeat. Eventually you can take the whole lobe off if you desire.

thanks for that. I will do as you say. I would rather do less than more, hopefully just get it blunt. My other has a smaller projection and has never had a problem.

You can take off or round out the points on the other marginal scutes also.
Do you keep Spiloides?

You might want to have a vet look at that cut... it is not minor. It is into the muscle tissue and looks necrotic. It probably will not heal on its own before it gets infected. With the enviroment they like the chances of infection are pretty likely. It looks like they have a dynamite setup.
Do you know Steve Durham?

I am keeping an eye on it. It does look worse than it is. The skin if flaking and the hole was pretty sealed when the hardened contents popped out. But you are correct, if anything changes I will not waste any time. Sorry, don't know that chap. Used to keep a nice pair of Grey rat snakes, hence spiloides, not a chelonian!
