Default Uk enclosure photos.

Hi all.

I wanted to start a thread in hope of gathering ideas from enclosures in our type of climate. Indoor or outdoor photos please.

Thanks. Craig.

Craig
I posted some pictures of my new outside pen this year, still in progress!

Look under 'Pictures' and the thread is titles 'The outside pen in coming along'.

I really will try and get my indoor enclosure pictures uploaded tomorrow.

Until this summer my 8 year old torts spent time in an indoor and then outdoor enclosure when the weather was nice. I fussed about temperatures, but the great people on this forum gave me the advice and confidence to make the changes. So torts have been out all summer day and night. Although one takes herself inside late in the afternoon and the other I take in, as he would happily stay outside in torrential rain.

Default Fort Tort

FORT TORT (named by CB due to my 5' high fencing outside)

This is what happens when children decide the tort house needs decorating

Entrance area

Outside the sleeping house

The sleeping house

This is an old wardrobe. My husband made an entrance on the side.
Looking from the top on the left hand side you can see a lamp holder. This now has a ceramic lamp that is on at night and they both go under or near this overnight. To the right is the cooler end.
At the back is another area they can access, but don't seem interested.
At the back on the left is what I think will be their hibernation chamber. It has an eco thermal layer of 4" in height and I have put in mainly soil with some sand substrate. I will be asking for some advice on this soon from the forum.

I open the door to the outbuilding in the morning so that can go outside when ready.

Great recycling of the wardrobe and such a clever idea, Jan. I'm looking forward to more photos as it develops.
It's a huge space for them both - does it make you tempted to get more?

Yes I would love some more, but I need to go carefully as my husband has been great in helping me do all this and looks after torts when I am not here, so need to make sure I don't rush into anything. He has to go through all the worries when I fuss over everything one could think of. We also have chickens and geese, but they are so much easier to look after. Thinking of rescuing a female horsfield as a starting point. Not just yet though.
