Couldn't see any water in your enclosure but sure you will have it anyway, it looks really good and secure. Heard a few people having the same problems, if others are then Im sure its not a real problem but I would check for worms unless you have already done this.

Im no expert mind just read a lot, what happens if you stick them in the garden in full sun what is their reaction, I mean in full sun but outside the enclosure

Apart from adding a ceramic heater - which I would consider ... anything else? Its just a shame because I love watching them.
Do they have acsess to the outside when they want to?

Their food isn't in the house so they have to leave the house and walk the length of the enclosure to get it....

The new enclosure can be seen here http://shelledwarriors.co.uk/forum/s...ad.php?t=68759 ... they get a lot of light into their house when the sun is up.
A nice looking enclosure, but there is not enough soil area for your tortoise to bask on if the sun does come out, so he will dig in the house area.
And you need a lot more plants for him/her to be able to hide under when they want too. As wide open spaces can be scary for a tortoise, better to have things to hide under/in while exploring:0)

When I gave them loads of soil last year they dug in it and I lost them in 8m2 of soil and I had to dig it all by hand to find them. That's why te soil was in the house. Will they not bask on the slates?

Genuine questions - just trying to work out how best to help them. Also if. Put more soil outside what do I put in the house? Am I not going to end up with more places they can dig in?

I hear you re hiding places as they tend to dig into the corners of the slate. So maybe I need to get then some plant pots or tunnels they can hide in.

The water is a largish reptile water bowl hidden behind the plant pot.

Last week we gave them the run of the garden (supervised) in the full sun and ey walked and walked..... Their enclosure was moved from last year's behemoth ( also in the other post) so that it was more in the sun but still had shade....

To be clear this is this years enclosure

Behemoth (/bɨˈhiːməθ/ or /ˈbiː.əməθ/, also /ˈbeɪ.əmɔːθ/; Hebrew בהמות, behemoth (modern: behemot)) is a beast mentioned in Job 40:15–24. Suggested identities range from dinosaur to crocodile to a mythological creature.[1] Metaphorically, the name has come to be used for any extremely large or powerful entity.

Well my tortoises will turn sideways up a brick wall to warm first thing in the mornings, but they never bask on my slabs. Just the soil.
Broken plant pots are great for tortoises to hide in:0)
Can you not do half soil and half slate. The problem with thin slate is it gets very very hot. You need the thick slate for tortoises to bask on. It needs to be an inch or two thick, to be able to disperse the heat, rather than scorching hot:0)
