Sorry to hear about Dougal, you are right though he is not in any more pain in torty heaven poor little fella. Dont blame yourself, sounds like he was one of the unfortunate ones which arrive from Slovinia. You will never forget him, like I have never forgotten my childhood tortoises which have long passed away. Thats why tortoises are really special creatures. Ade

I've been away for a few days and only just read this
I'm really sad to hear Dougal passed away, he sounded a wee darlin' and obviously loved alot. Can't imagine how you've been feeling. Thinking of you xx R.I.P Dougal x

so sorry to here about dougal, just remind yourself he had 4 very happy months living with you,even though it was short you still have comfort and memory of the time you had together
