Smile Tortoise Club!

Hello all!

I have been so inspired by Norfolk Tortoise club. It is a Tortoise club based in Norfolk which has frequent meetings, where you can bring along your Tortoise (of any breed.) They have experts leading it, you can share any worries you have, they give out weed advice etc.

Here's the link: http://www.tortoiseclub.org/

So is there anyone in the Reading area who would like to create one? It would be great if we had one of our own, closer to home.

I go to The Devon Tortoise Group (which is TODAY if anyone is interested, 2pm East Budleigh Village Hall, speaker Prof John Davenport on Turtles around the British Isles. cream tea included!) it is always well attended but i live in Somerset so have to travel as it is my nearest one, there is obviously a need for more groups. The Devon Group does not do a health check clinic, I would think it is highly risky to have lots of torts in the same place being handled and exposed to other torts? I would not take mine even if it were on offer to be honest.

I've only heard of them in Norfolk and Devon. We need more Tortoise Clubs!

Yes the Wiltshire Tortoise Group and our next meeting is on the 18th May, when two ladies from The Tortoise Table are coming to give us a talk on edible plants and weeds. Everyone is welcome and Reading isn't very far away really just down the M4.

I keep meaning to come along to a meeting one day. I was in Budleigh yesterday!

Enjoy your cream tea, Alley.
