Default Stolen Tortoises in Bridgwater Area-ALMOST ALL FOUND

I have this evening been contacted by a devastated couple who have had all twelve of their tortoises stolen overnight from the Bridgwater area in Somerset. The missing tortoises are as follows:

2 x young adult ibera males
2 x young adult marginated males
2 x adult female iberas
1 x small ibera male
3 x leopards
1 x elderly hermanns female
1 x small hermanns male

If anyone hears of any tortoises being offered for sale or appearing in neighbour's gardens etc please either contact myself or John Hayward of the National Theft Register.

It would be fantastic if we could get at least some of these precious tortoises returned to their owners.

Mary

O Mary this is awful news, I live in Cornwall but will still keep a look out.

Perhaps some of the members who live in the Bridgwater area could set this as there profile status on Facebook to maximize the awareness.

Please keep us updated, I hope they find them all xxxx

These animals were stolen complete with their houses and lifted over a 6ft fence so it couldn't have been easy but let's hope that they can be found safe and well.

Are they fingerprinted and/or chipped, or at least good photos?
I do hope they are soon found. Did no neighbour notice what was happening? As you say lifting over a six foot fence would have taken some effort as well as time.

Not micro-chipped as far as I know and not sure about fingerprinting but hopefully there are some good photographs available.

Mary,
Do you know if they have contacted our local papers yet? There is nothing our the Bridgwater Mercury website today & they are usually very good at putting things on there quickly.
xx

Hi Everyone

Thank you all for your support.

I don't think they have contacted the papers themselves but usually John Hayward is good at that. I will make some enquiries.
