wont this cause problem inside them as my tort recently got very constipated threw a large calcium ball which caused him alot of distress as it was size of small marble ?

That wasn't a calcium ball, it was probably a large amount of urates, and if it was that solid, suggests that the tortoise needs to drink more and more often
