I have been offer african hedgehog by a person who is moving and cant take him. (He contact me through work)
I am not sure if i should take him home!

I have never kept one before.. Is it easy to look after?

should I???

yes I am sure they are easier to keep than tortoises

My friend has one,it can have a vivarium or I THINK a large indoor guinea cage a wheel to run round in and I think they eat mealworms,googling is the best option and I always buy a good book on every pet I keep

SO I have a huge bookshelf lol

I was planning to buy a book.. I have one for guinea pig, rabbit and ferret!

this one come with cage and 3 months supply so I thinking of accepting to rehome him. I think I going need help for few days to get used!!

There's a forum called Pygmy Hogs Uk... its like this one.. really friendly only for hogs rather than torts!
I have an APH.. she is adorable. They are easy enough to keep, feed mainly on cat biscuits, but eat a huge variety of mealies, crickets, waxies as a treat, cooked chicken, cooked eggs, veggies to name but a few!
They are nocturnal but mine loves cuddles in a blanket while she is sleeping through the day and they need a wheel or a flying saucer as they cover miles in the night time.
I have only had Thistle since May.. but if I can help you in any way I will. :O)

I have decide to say yes to rehome, his name is Marley. (I decide not to change the name)

I will ask you for help if I need to.

cat biscuits.. I have 2 cats so I will use the same biscuits.. I give my cats dry food called whiskas. They have tinned food in the weekend as treat (a bit like us having takeway!)

Have a look on pygmy hogs hun... they cant have fish products, so you need to see which cat biscuits you can use. I use go cat indoors because its low fat and it keeps the smellls down too, she also loved James wellbeloved as a treat x

i breed african pygmy hedgies and they are similar in care to guinea pigs. they can be kept in an indoor rabbit hutch and they do need a wheel for nightly usage. they are inquisitive and curious creatures and i love them to bits! a substrate of wood shavings works well and keeps them smelling fresh, non clumping cat litter in a toilet tray helps to keep the cage clean and a few toys such as jinlgy cat balls, toy cars etc helps to keep them occupied.

i personally would not feed your hedgies just one type of food. Whiskas is not made up of the best ingredients and while its ok for a filler you need to add some premium meat based cat foods into the mix to even it out. you need to aim for around 28% protein and 12% fat......to get this i use 1/3 iams orange, 1/3 purina one, and 1/3 whiskas( all chicken based adult foods.....not kitten or senior). a littlecalcium and d3 should be added to the dried food to keep bones and teeth healthy and an assortment of mealowrms, supermorio mealworms, waxworms and other cultivated insects should be offered. the best place for live food is www.thelivefoodwarehouse.co.uk they have 3 tubs for £7 inc delivery and if they are kept cool they should last a few weeks.

decide to pick hedgehog on Saturday, his name is Marley.

where do you get the litter tray from? Marley dont have one, he's coming in zoozoo cage.

I have reptile shop near me so I be able get some crawlings!!

I have woodshaving which i use for guinea pigs so should be ok then?
