Default who knew the speckled padloper tortoise

.....from south Africa was the smallest tortoise on the planet. I didn't !

Though they could win best named tortoise in the world. .... Was there a Mr Padloper do we think. CB

I had to look it up and they quite appeal to me as I like pancake torts and this little tort has quite a flattened shape too. I'd imagine they're difficult to breed due to their flat shapes. I think pancakes only carry a single egg as there's no room for their internal organs to go otherwise, so I suspect it's a similar thing. Correct me if I'm wrong there, Gordon.

You are right emma they do only lay one at a time but can lay several times a year.

Pretty little things though.
Lots of keepers now keep pancakes and are not that hard to breed, once you get the setup correct. They are a lovely species.

It is good isn't Emma. I was doing some more research and up he popped ! they do look sooo cute but not as cute as the little Egyptians ! who are the
2nd smallest in the world.....! and blooming good for them too ! I am going to see why Padloper - I love the name ! CB x
