Poor Lils :(
Lily whilst out in the garden today pulled right out one of his back claws I didn't see how he did it...
Just saw him pull his head in and limp with the back leg. Quickly got him indoors and blood dripping like mad from it. Rushed him up the vet and they cleaned the wound and told me no outside time until the wound scabs up. Got to bathe with iodine solution twice a day with cotton buds and also give 0.6ml of metacam. I give him this on half a grape as I know he'll eat it with the least stress. Trouble is the wound won't stop bleeding...is this ok? Can Vaseline be used or is this the worst option. He's still hyper bless him and zooming round...but his toe is still bleeding and he's walking it about. No table either in case of reinfection. Should I just still allow him to walk about in my kitchen? I've washed floor with anti bacterial cleaner so it's all clean but I'm worried that he'll make the wound worse or it won't heal. Not sure what to do. He can still luckily get sun and heat in my back doorway, as it's a sun trap til 12noon. It was horrid seeing this. Not experienced this before...I just don't know how he did it. xx |

Use corn flour or if you don't have any just normal flour to stop the bleeding. Poor Lily, hope he feels better soon.

Yep, corn starch, baking powder, that sort of thing will help. I'm sure you haven't got a silver nitrate pen, but that'd do the job too. Failing that, the vets will have a special powder to dab on so you could always pop back there if the bleeding continues.
Poor Lily. I hope he's okay. x

I'd call the vets. They may be open still. My son's practice doesn't close until 6.30pm.

Rach, there's always Stypic powder. I can't find it online but there's a pencil in Superdrug. http://www.superdrug.com/Superdrug/S...3#.VZLNJbvbKUk
Maybe give Pets at Home a call to see what they stock too. Many open until about 7pm. I'm sure your vet will advise you what to do if you call. x

Got the vet ambulance picking him up to stay at vets overnight. There's too much bleeding and I am worried about that. He needs quiet and rest. They'll bring him back to me tomorrow. I hate being separated from him though (I know I sound like a doughnut) xx

You did do the right thing Rach. He'll be well looked after and fit as a fiddle in no time.
