Really bad experience in a pet shop bloxwich walsall
I had a very bad experience today
This shop was in bloxwich high street near the school Normally i don't go into pet shops but i did today. I asked the shop keeper if he stocked something he said no. In a viv was a hermann with cucumber, a red light and no uvb that i could see at the time. I wasnt going to say anything but i did, silly me. I said 'im not having a go at you but are you aware that cucumber is a bad food for tortoises' He went mental 'its fine' I said 'its just water and its got no UVB' He said 'yes it has' I looked under and it was right at the top I said 'thats doing no good up there' he said 'it is and it is changed every 12 months' I said 'it needs changing evey 6 months, i keep tortoises and i have bred some' He said 'well there are bad breeders and good, you must be a bad one and im fed up of you people coming in here saying that' He was dam right nasty and rude, i was SO ANGRY There was more to the arguement but thats the basic

Charming aren't they? I went in a pet shop the other day, they are "reptile experts" *cough* and I knew they stocked reptibark.. Thought, quickly in, buy it, leg it.. But no
I handed the bag over and asked how much it was, she said "ooh what do you keep?" nice of her to ask, I thought. "I have two hermanns boettgeri's" "Eh? What are they" Oh great, I think. You have three in the shop!! "Hermanns tortoises" "Well this isn't enough for tortoises, I'll get you some more" er...what? "No, it's not for them, they don't like the humidity. It's for red foots" "It's still not enough" "No really, this is fine thanks, I'm only using it on top of the substrate for humidity, not filling the table with it!" "What other substrate are you using?" "Sand and soil mix" "You shouldn't use sand with tortoises. They absorb it through their cloaca and it can cause prolapse and compaction and it dehydrates them!" This was said literally yelling at me from about a foot away "Sand will kill them, I'll get you more bark" ARGH?! My friend just said "We're leaving..NOW!" and we left. I'd have asked to see the manager about it but yes, you've guessed it.. She was the manager

I do too Jo, only went there as I needed the bark and it must be the only thing on the planet cheaper in a shop than on the internet!

bloody perthetic ani't it. i know alot of people on here say that you should carlmly talk to the people and such, but it is rarly that easy. most owners of shops beleive there methods are right as that is there bussiness. realisticly most are very bad shops, the other week there was a dead star in it's viv amd it stunk soooo bad.
when i go into shops and i get a mouthful back, i end up giving them sh*t back, which proberly doesn't help but by then i have pasted caring. RSPCA do nothing as they are crap, Concuil do nothing . p.s. i think we should do a name and shame of the shops on here but oviously we can't so is it really ok to pretty much put there address up as this is much the same. cheers |

Have to admit ive taken to using a large well known chainstore for most of my pet supplies, you know the one. They dont carry much in the way of livestock so my heart strings get a break, but they certainly are expensive.
