Default Bad start to 2012

Don't think 2012 is going to be a good year for me, so far my eldest son broke his hand, the dogs leg is still very bad (vets again tonight) and worse of all, last night my youngest son was attacked.... He went to buy some ciggies with his girlfriend, After comming out of the shop he sat in his car and him and his g.friend were having a smoke with the windows down and 3 black kids and 1 white kid came over to the car, 1 hit him with a baton across his neck and tried to take the car keys, he fought back frantically and was hitting one of them, another one got the baton and smashed his back window, another tried dragging his g.friend (hitting her)out of the car, another smashed his front window and they dented all the bonnet. He also got knived in the hand (not badly). He was holding on to his g.friend with one hand and managed to start the car and drive off.

It's the area where steven Lawrence got stabbed, Eltham.

He wouldn't let me call the police as he said they wouldn't do anything and too be honest I hate to say it but they wouldn't.

Can't claim on his insurance for the car as its in my husbands name and can't afford to lose the no claims. And also if we did Jack (my son) would not beable to ever get insured again

We only just bought him the car for his 18th which was in December.

Bloody hell, Lynne! What a complete nightmare!
I really feel for you. Thank goodness they weren't badly injured, though I'm sure they're really shaken up.
Let's hope 2012 improves for you! x

That is a nightmare. You have my greatest sympathies. I hope things improve for you and your family and that the injured recover quickly xx

My year hasn't started well either - my cousin died of a brain haemorrhage aged only 51 and the funeral is on Thursday

That's awful I hope your son and his girlfriend are ok. Things are getting worse.
And sorry to hear about your cousin Joesmum. My mum died of a brain haemmorage when she was 43 and my cousin at 47. Also another member of the family. Nothing can prepare you for this shock.

That is so awful, must have been very traumatic for your son and his girlfriend. I know what you mean about the police though...I live in an area with some serious anti social behaviour problems and so far they have never been helpful at all!

Sounds like things can only get better for you though! Here's hoping

Thanks everyone! Joesmum sorry to hear about your cousin.

More bad news, Just come back from the vets with Bonnie (dog) she's been limping around and holding her leg up since xmas. She had a ligament replacement op about a year ago and she's hurt the same leg. Well... the vet thinks the crimp that holds the ligament has come off, she said that if thats the case a 2nd ligament op is not recommended as it doesn't usually work, the outcome is very poor. The only op she could have is a specialist op where they put a plate in. The vet doesn't think Bonnie would be a good candidate as Bonnie has arthritis. She's given Bonnie pain killers and told us not to exercise her for two weeks, see how that goes then if no change she will ave a xray. If it's the ligament then Bonnie will need to be put to sleep otherwise she will be in pain and have no life a dog should have
So I will know for sure in approx 2/3 weeks the outcome. Not looking good though

Bonnie is only 41/2 years old.
