what about joining freecycle.org, they're always comming up on there and they're free, so if the first one's no good its not cost you anything, in fact you could get ,two one as a back up.

Make sure you monitor temperatures before hand
Hi I too am looking for a suitable hibernation fridge.
Be careful with mini fridges as my son has one, which was too cold when tested I then went out a couple of weeks ago & brought one from Makro £35, advertised in their flyer, said it operated between 5 - 10 degrees but on testing it was below freezing, twice! so that went back! Im now hunting for an under counter model & thinking of keeping it in the garage but obviously that may pose its own challenges. Id try checking local papers, shop boards & charity shops. |

you know you can put a wanted add on freecycle, fridges are always comming up on mine in Kent. Sorry Billy but you need to go for a ordinary sized one not a mini or drinks fridge, you can always put your xmas booze in there along with the tort.

i put a wanted on there last night lets see what happens, if i get a full size fridge it wil lhave to go in my conservatory which may fluctuate the temps to much, how ever the under counter ones are a fraction of the price second hand, il keep checking the free ads or something, and i am sure i can find other uses for it,

an under the counter one would be fine, just not those little table top drinks one's they're to small to be consistant and most have see through doors which is a no no, there was someone who did manage to use one and covered the door but unless its free or you were going to buy one anyway the odds are they won't be any good.

still might be worth trying if you can put torty at the bottom, as long as the temps are staying at 4-5c, you'll just have to run it with the container your using for the tort and his bedding in there for a few days to check, you can also try it with anything else that might be put in there. If you might use it for bottles then fill old empty's with water as anything else in the fridge can change the temps, you've got to run it exactley as it will be with the tortoise in it. If its no good and came from freecycle then just try again.
