Default Leo needs a loving new home

Hi, i am new to this forum and i am slightly desperate and came across this site, so thought someone here may be able to help me. I am the proud owner of LEO, a 7 year old leopard tortoise at 14" long and just under 4kilos in weight. He is a fantastic character and a much loved member of my family. However i am unfortunetly having to find him a new home and although i cant bear to part with him, i must do what is right for Leo and not myself. I am after a home who will love him and care for him and give him the larger enclosure he so rightly deserves and the time he deserves. He loves to try and climb and loves his food. He is very active and loves bathing under the heat lamp. Please if any one knows of someone that could give him the home i am wanting and who is willing to keep in touch with his progress etc, please could they let me know. I live in southampton and would like to vet any offers of homes before i let him go.
Many thanks Maria

Maria I am so sorry you have found yourself in this position.

It may be worth calling the Hampshire Tortoise Society - 0845 4738258

I hope you do find someone who will take him on - they are such a lovely breed.

Hi Maria

Evie has made an excellent suggestion, The Hampshire Tortoise Society is an excellent tortoise group, I've attended some of their meetings myself. I'm sure they'll be able to help you.

Hi to everyone and thank you for all the replies with regards to the tortoise society. This is indeed a very upsetting and emotional tme for me and im finding it so hard to cope with the thought of letting leo go. But in reply of Ryan and Jo, i would be very interested in speaking with you. My number is 07982885431. Many thanks and hope to hear from you soon.

Hi, Just to let you know that i have found Leo a forever home with hampshire tortoise rescue, where we will be able to visit him and keep in touch with him. He leaves us tomorrow and i know its going to be an emotional day for the family, but as long as he is happy, that is whats important.

Hi Bindi,
thankyou, its not an easy decision and one that will become harder tomorrow. But lets be positive and think of whats best for Leo. At least he will only be a half hour drive from my house and we are welcome to visit him at any time

I am glad you have found him some where near and that you can visit him.

It will be a very sad day for you but as long as he is going to a caring home he will be fine.
