ID please
Just been out to the garden to start getting the outside enclosures ready and found this monstrosity has grown through the winter. Anyone have any ideas??
The weeds have gone mad over the winter in Oliver's enclosure. I've never seen so much willow herb on the ground. It'll need a good raking over! Also, this one came up last year. It never flowers but I'm not sure what it is. I don't think it looks edible but thought I'd check before whipping it out. Got hubby on the job making Attitcus' new enclosure. That's what Easter Sunday is all about - feed him with chocolate and cups of tea and he gets to work!

Thinking about it, does anyone think the first one is dock?

Nice over grown area Emma - my Horsfields would demolish those weeds in around 5.26 seconds ! Love the evolving pen also. can not believe it is not raining there !!!! it hasn't stopped here since beginning of last week. Nightmare weather. I should know the shiney weed as I have them but thought chicory as its serrated edges but not sure.
some one will know ! when will the sun shine do we think ? Surely Martin Clunes must know....can not film in the rain.

The pens are so overgrown! I cover them with plastic sheeting through the winter to stop winter debris getting in and first sow lots of weed seeds. The sowthistle usually does well and has done in the female enclosure, which has plenty of it plus cats ear and bittercress, but this enclosure is full of bittercress and willow herb, which he won’t touch! The dock must have been dropped by a bird prior to covering the enclosure in the autumn. I shall look up chicory images and compare, thanks Clare.

Lovely to see the pen in progress. Look forward to some more pictures.
We are no-where near getting the new tort greenhouse up! Don't know about the second weed - think we all agree first one is dock. I left my dock in but removed the lower leaves and they loved it for shade. Only think is you have to keep a good eye on it to make sure no new leaves and does not seed. Actually as I have written this realise there are better thing for shade - so pull out!

Wow the weeds have gone a bit mad, I agree the first one looks like dock. Nice to see another fantastic enclosure goin up. It rained most of Easter weekend here, so not able to go out and do anything , and I'm itching to get out there and plant new things, move some plants and get the girls summer house up. The cold wet weather seems never ending. Although last Friday was quite sunny and warm, and I did cut the grass and all torts went out for a while, which was nice.

On a big FB forum the controlling voices say you can feed willowherb. Mine don't eat it anyway so I pull them out.
