If she's settled fir tonight she's had enough I leave my lights on cause I have freaks who get up at 9pm and have a wonder eat drink the lot

They don't need 12 hours of UVB, depending on what UV source you are using just a few hours may be enough.

As long as they are up and actice and not constantly asleep I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Yes, Carl is right. You have to remember Wendy, that probably in the wild, they would dig down when its hot, and there are probably shaded areas. Probably even when (ahem....) we get summer here, sometimes they go sit under plants and just leave their bum out or partially out. They dont always want it, or need it constantly.
Next week, I will have to move Lily downstairs as I am having my bathroom revamped- probably lot of vibration so dont want to cause Lily any stress - so..., I will have to use his old table downstairs, for which I dont have the old strip for UV attached - got rid of it (stupid me) when i got the new enclosure...but I do have a heat bulb. But...upon good advice, as long as I suppliment Lilys food daily he will manage fine without much 'Mega Ray' for next week - as an isolated week. xx
