Default 34 Under lamp

I have just built a new tortoise table pics will follow however at the moment under the lamp i am getting a temperature of 34 degrees. is this too hot for a Hermann or is it ok.??

Last night was a warm night and the temperature only dropped down to 24 during the night, is this too hot for a night temperature??? this can drop to 18 and even 16 (winter) depending on the ambient temperature but the house holds its heat fairly well so i think through the summer 22-24 will be the average night time minimum in the tortoise table.

Cheers

I would say the odd 34c, 93f would do no harm, constant high temp's maybe, if we hit a warm week/fortnight, and tort's inside i would switch lights off for a couple of hours, say midday break. Night time temp's usualy don't bother them too much, they may just sleep without cover if used to the table.

I agree with Paul. I have started doing this - in light of the warm weather. I have them all on first thing but then they are basically staggered. I have only the strip on from 3-5.30pm in the afternoon as I know Lily usually is in his hide during this time. The Halogen I only have on first thing, this goes off (by timer) at 9.45am. Then doesnt come back on until 5.30pm - as usually Lily will bask for a bit then. Also the MR comes back on at this time as well.
I am only trying this out. I may well have to rethink things but as I dont have an outside enclosure i am chopping and changing the light times to ease the temps. I have also 3 water drinking dishes spread out so that if he wants to drink or have a cool off then thats available too.
But as long as your tort can escape from the heat, and into a cooler end - then he should be fine. I was worrying about this same thing yesterday.
