It has become very Americanised these days even though I think it all originates from Ireland. There were never any pumpkins in the shops when I were a lad, we used swedes nicked from the fields. No one ever mentioned trick or treat either, that was just something we saw them do in American films. we just went guising and sang a song. no off the peg costumes then either, everything had to be made.

Every year I visit a selection of family friends and make sure they have goodies I bought for my kids. I never really got to celebrate halloween as it day my taid passed away and older generations really mourn him which is daft as he would hate that, so I make sure my kids enjoy the tradition

Thanks for the comments guys
Alan I have to wear that paperbag over my head so as not to frighten the residents of Hull, although you'd think with people like Paul living there they would be used to scarey faces Wendy, I don't think he had farted but he was manically slapping his butt for some reason... ( mental note, must check parental controls lol) |

I used to love going ' trick or treating' with the kids when they were little
Only used to knock on a few neighbours doors and would only let them knock just once and not stand there keep knocking on the door. It's something they always remember and they used share their sweets out and behave all night I didn't have anyone knock last night, had all the sweets ready aswell so I'm working my way through them now
