Default Hibiscus tea.

Hi all,

Just thought i'd share a little story.

I brought some dried flowers tortoise mix to suppliment Irwins diet over winter.

The only problem is, she wont actually eat it dry and I have to soak it for a little bit in boiled then cooled water.

With the dried hibiscus this turns the water BRIGHT RED and stains anything in sight lol.

But i worried that maybe some of the 'goodness' was being lost in the soak of these dried hibiscus petals.

So i put a capful of the red hibiscus water in Irwins enclosure and she LOVED it as a little hydrating treat.

I figure it must be safe because it is literally just the water the hibiscus was in. Nothing else added.

Has anyone else ever tried this? What are your thoughts on a little Tort friendly hibiscus tea?

How amazing.

I will be very interested to hear comments. As you say, it is only water added to what you would normally give Irwin.

I would love to try it.

Irwin is obviously not hibernating at the moment. I so miss mine.

yes that's sounds good and totally natural. I do add mint leafs to hot water sometimes, I don't strain them or anything and think its an anti inflammatory ? maybe hibiscus is the same?
