Megaray
Just fitted my new Mega ray in the hope of perking my guys up at bit. The distance from the bulb to floor of my tort table is around 22inchs. The temp reading under the bulb is approx 28-30 C, does this sound about right?
Cheers guys.

Hi Becky,
at 22" the UVB will be reduced, try and get it to 18", as for the temperatures, depends where and how you are reading them, right under the bulb will be the hottest, then as you move out it will be cooler. as long as there is a thermal gradient, ie warm and cool end your tortoise will thermo regulate. Any problems my numbers is on the front page of my site, feel free to call me. Darren |

Hi, that temp sounds right but I have my lamp lower. On the box of my 100W MegaRay it says 12" is the minimum basking distance. In a room that is generally warm and cosy I found that 12" leads to too high a temp. But 22" does sound a bit too high up to get good UV.
