Question Sand?

I was just wondering, whats the difference between using special desert sand substrate (not calci sand) in comparison to play sand?

Hi Miss Elle,

I am not sure about desert sand but playsand is cleaned and refined so is safe to mix with the topsoil to make a suitable substrate. It is also readily available and relatively inexpensive.

i can only eco what ade as already said . but the main difference is play sand is safe can be mixed with top soil to keep it moist.. where as the desert sand you are talking about i think is aimed at dry conditions . and would more then likely cause irratation to your tortoises eyes ect ...
