Hi, this light does, however you MAY still need to add normal lights. depending on where you table is just for visible light. problem with using all in ones is they cannot be used with a thermostat so the only way you can increase or decrease heat is highering or lowering the light. but saying that ALOT of people do recommend these, ive just never had one

Question

I normally use a 100 watt spot lamp will the 160 watt fit into the socket I have been using or will I need to get a new holder.

I have a 160w too. It's not as heat intense as the Mega Ray equivalent, but it's a nice bulb. I also am using a 100w ceramic heat emitter on a thermostat to boost up when needed. A 100w Arcadia combined might not provide enough heat. It's sleet and snow with sub zero temps outside. But also depends on table size and if you can contain the heat in the room and the table.
You might need to add an additional heat source if the temps don't reach into the mid 30's.
Remember if you go for a higher 160w, the holder also must be able to take the wattage. xx

Depends on the holder you have now?

I have this reflector and ceramic holder in one which can withstand the bulb temps....

I have both the 100w and 160w.. both are great. I can get temps well over 40c without going below the minimum height.

Same here I'm in a very cold student house and I can get great temps without being at minimum.

I agree this is a good lamp. The 100 watt is OK but the lamp may seem low down in many set-ups and not cover a very big 'footprint' at all. So unless it's a really small table the 160watt may be a better bet.

Agree with above that it is likely your tort would benefit from other light sources and depending on the size of the area, other lamps such as halogens for warmth and light. Tubes for extra light are also good.

On a small table the Arcadia works well but it would be best to have something else as well in my opinion.
