i know what you mean.
I didnt leave them out by choice, its just that i went to get them in one evening and they had dug down, and i felt cruel digging them up so
left them out there, i got up twice during that first night to go out in the garden to make sure the enclosure was still intact

my ibera rehommer tortie lives alone as he is my only ibera he has a hutch type house that stays very dry, in it i have always used hemp with some long dry grass as cover ,i have noticed how dusty it is at times so i cleaned him out yesterday and filled the inner room part with graze on.when i checked on him last night before shutting his door no tortoise.he was under the graze on .it smells lovely and is good enough to eat,and its not dusty at all .

I think its natural to worry about them outside all by themselves when you first put them out, but just wait till you see how well he does
